Happy Tails: Kai

Kai the “trouble monkey” cat.

Mallory visited The Animal Foundation in July of 2018 looking for a feline friend. She visited with a few cats, but when she walked by Kai’s kennel, he reached through the bars and meowed. She knew at that moment that Kai had picked her, and she couldn’t say no to that.

Kai and Mallory have been two peas in a pod since the day she adopted him. Mallory provides a loving home and a reserved sleeping spot on her recliner. In return, Kai eats hair ties, and demands head pets at all hours, but also provides Mallory with plenty of soothing purring and kneading.

To Mallory, Kai will always be her “trouble monkey.” Speaking about his adoption she says, “I’ve never regretted it, even when he ate 20+ hair ties and I had to shell out $4,000 for surgery…he’s the cutest little trouble monkey in the world. Kai knows when my chronic pain is especially bad and gives me extra love. I swear cat purrs have healing properties.”
